In March of 2023, I was very proud to accept an invitation to join the Advisory Board of WIGI.

Women in Games International is a non-profit organization that champions a safe, inclusive, and diverse workforce for the industries dedicated to video games, tabletop games, and esports. Since the beginning of my involvement, I’ve been working behind the scenes to support CEO Joanie Kraut and the rest of the Executive Board in the pursuit of their strategic initiatives. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure to speak more publicly about our shared mission to create equal access and opportunities for everyone who is passionate about the creation of games.

This past August, at gamescom 2024, I had the honor to lend my voice to a panel discussion entitled ‘Celebrating Women in Games,’ sponsored by WIGI, AWS, and DoIt. Sharing my insights and formative memories with women who are new to the industry, as well as seasoned vets brave enough to start their own ventures. It was a wonderful beginning to a global industry week in Cologne, Germany. Joanie was such an excellent moderator, and it was great to meet the other panelists and hear their own advice and experiences. After the panel, there was a lovely reception where I had the chance to talk to many women from the audience and form new relationships.

Throughout the rest of the week at gamescom, I continued to encounter many of these women at a variety of events. It was inspiring to keep finding those friendly and supportive faces in the crowd. I’ve been in the video game industry for twenty years. Today, I feel more positivity, care, and mutual support between women than ever before.

In 2025, WIGI will celebrate its 20th Anniversary as an organization. We still have so much more potential to make our industry a better place for everyone. We’re excited to continue including more influential people in the Advisory Board that believe in our mission and want to support women in games.

We need women-identified patronage, as well as ally and accomplice collaboration. We don’t win alone. We win when we all walk side by side.
