Iron Galaxy at Frosty Faustings 2025

Since the debut of Killer Instinct Anniversary Edition, we’ve had a great time catching up with the fighting game community at events. Since Frosty Faustings is a skip away from our Chicago studio, a handful of our developers were nearby to support KI. We spectated, we cheered, and some of us even competed. Here’s a handful of our favorite memories from the weekend.

Thursday jumpstarted the show with Vortex Gallery’s Killer Instinct community tournament. Despite the cold weather, the battle was heated! Familiar faces who have been duking it out at tournaments for years met again to stand toe to toe.

Frosty’s Top 4 showcased DragonBladeIce (Hisako), Trevward (Cinder), WheelsFGC (Gargos), and Bass (Eagle) fighting for LAGrGaming’s first ever community trophy. Ultimately, it came down to two best friends at the finish, WheelsFGC and Bass, with Bass closing it out in a close 3-2 in the first round of Grand Finals. Relive four hours of KI streamed action by watching MatchStickMelee’s VOD on YouTube of KI at #FFXVII2025, featuring stacked matches from Round 1 of pools up to Grand Finals.

Friday brought on a full day of bracket action as we followed Kieran Peasley (Designer) playing through his Street Fighter 6 pools, Eric Sheppard (Engineer) battling through Ultra Fight Da ! Kyanta 2’s community tournament, and Mario Gomez (QA) during his Vampire Savior run. Kieran escaped pools with Marisa, Eric nabbed top 8 alternating between Anna, Garasha, and Rare, while Mario secured 4th place with Anakaris. These three are a menace during our internal fighting game tournaments, as expected when seeing their tournament results!

Saturday we followed Eric Sheppard as he tackled Chicago’s coveted Mystery Tournament, locking down a top 16 placement in one of the most packed schedules of the weekend.

Sunday saw Mario Gomez yet again emerging out on top, earning 3rd place playing Cody in Street Fighter Alpha 3.
Throughout the weekend, we encountered fans of Killer Instinct who were also artists. See them and their deep love of the FGC take color in the pictures coming up next.

Gigantic thanks to the team at Frosty Faustings and Michael Hionis (@SuperGreekFyter), the Co-Director of @FrostyFaustings and a play tester of Killer Instinct Season 2, for the generous hospitality all weekend.

The entire event was a blast and we cherish every moment we get to spend with those who play the games we’ve worked on. We can’t wait for #FFXVIII2026!

Here’s to another 10 years of Killer Instinct and Frosty Faustings.
